Cisco helping to set new land speed record

At the Cisco Expo UAE 2012 event yesterday Cisco showcased the Bloodhound project, a project it is helping to support which aims to set a new land speed reecord of 1,000mph (mach 1.4) in the Hakskeen Pan Northern Cape located in South Africa.

The project’s mission is to inspire future generations to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Cisco’s involvement helps to provide the video and network support that such a project needs, and they are keen to support the Bloodhound Ambassador Programme, which targets young students to understand the physics behind the project and also encourage students to come up with their own mini-models to mimic the concepts being used in the real Bloodhound car.

The programme has received great media attention and participation from schools in Europe, and Cisco is helping to roll out the initiative to schools in the region as well. More information on the project can be found here.
