Sourceforge takes Anonymous-OS offline

Less that twenty-four hours since it’s upload, the now famed ‘Anonymous-OS‘ has been taken offline from SourceForge.net.

In a blog post, the company clearly states that though SourceForge remains committed to making open-source projects successful, it would not allow a potential security risk to be hosted.

The blog post notes that the Anonymous-OS is supposedly filled with various trojans and security risks and that …as the day progressed, various security experts have had a chance to take a look at what’s really in this distribution, and verify that it is indeed a security risk, and not merely a distribution of security-related utilities, as the project page implies.”

It’s a no-brainer that SourceForge would want to keep the community risk-free and open to everyone, but let’s hope that by taking this project down they haven’t incurred the wrath of Anonymous.
