Yahoo CEO misrepresented degree on his CV

Recently Yahoo filed a lawsuit against Facebook claiming that the social networking site had violated 10 of its registered patents. Of course this is nothing new, people tend to like suing Facebook for reasons unknown.

But the decision to sue Facebook for millions of easy dollars might be a decision Yahoo CEO Scott Thompson will regret. A recent discovery points out that apparently Thompson inflated his college degree a bit on his CV, something that is bound to haunt him for the rest of his career.

Noe people tend to lie or over-inflate their CV on a daily basis, but for the CEO of a tech company to that is just plain stupidity. On his CV, Thompson stated that he earned a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Computer Science, however it was discovered that he only earned a degree in Accounting. The flub could have been an accident or something done on purpose, but apparently Thompson had the same degree listed on his credentials when he worked at eBay. The discovery has now prompted the Yahoo board to undertake a full investigation, the outcome of which certainly won’t be pretty for Thompson.

The discovery about Thompson’s degree was pointed out by Dan Loeb, current CEO of hedge fund Third Point. When more voices joined in to cry afoul, Yahoo decided to take matters into their own hands. It’s safe to say that Thompson’s glorious days as Yahoo’s CEO could quite possibly come to an abrupt end.
