Windows Phone 8 to feature curved on-screen keyboard?

Ever struggled to text someone while burdened with shopping bags? Or how about trying to lock your front door while texting your boss that you’re going to be late? While some of us might have talented fingers that are adept at one-hand typing on a mobile phone, not all of us are that lucky.

So it was with much surprise that I picked up this image from WMPoweruser.com, which shows a one-handed on-screen keyboard that Microsoft have apparently being designing.

The keyboard features a regular qwerty layout, but this time around several letters are grouped together, presumably for predictive typing – something that I haven’t seen on a phone since 2006. If implemented, it’s most likely that this updated keyboard will arrive in Windows Phone 8 rather than in the current lineup of Windows Phone devices. But here’s hoping that Microsoft will take pity on its fans and release the new keyboard as an update for current devices. That, or someone could kindly hack it for the masses.

Anyone?
