This was conveyed by the FBI in a white paper dated January 19, 2012 and awaits an answer from tech companies until February 10, 2012.
The FBI asks technology companies engaged in the social networking platform to build a monitoring system that can be used the FBI to monitor Internet traffic.
The FBI will use information from social media to respond to crises that might occur.
The FBI will conduct surveillance around the key word terrorism, surveillance operations, online crime, and anything else related to the mission of the FBI. Agencies will be aware that the search produces evidence of a violation or threat.
White Paper issued by the FBI show that the FBI wanted to target specific users in user group of social media.
Agents will be able to find the location of the perpetrator, analyzing gestures, susceptibility behavior, their limitations, and possible bad acts to be performed.
Social media will help to map the matrix pattern of life, and help analyze rutintinas their daily targets.
Collide with the "Privacy"
Facebook and Twitter users might be able to protect their accounts by setting up "private" for every post made.
However the reality, the U.S. government desires that all data can be accessed by the FBI. According to Jennifer Lynch of the organization the Electronic Frontier, this could threaten freedom of speech in the U.S..
"The tools to be used may be capable of storing data in a long time and violate privacy. I'm afraid this will have an impact on freedom of speech in the U.S. and residents would be concerned to say what they want," explains Lynch.
The FBI also said that the social control of the media will be able to predict what will happen in the future. Periodically, the FBI will analyze the timeline, analyze trends, patterns, and associations which are formed in social media.
