Google on Thursday soft-launched its own online coupon website called Google Offers. Reports of the Groupon competitor from the search giant surfaced back in January this year, which is reportedly powered by Google Checkout, and promises integrated support for Facebook and Twitter.
Much like it’s competitors, Google Offers also aims to give users discounts of upto 50% from participating local business. The website is only available in Portland currently, though other cities like New York and San Francisco are listed for sign ups as well.
“Today we launched a marketing campaign inviting Portlanders to sign up for a test of Google Offers — to get great deals delivered right to their inboxes,” a Google spokesperson said. “Offers is part of an ongoing effort at Google to make new services that give consumers great deals while helping connect businesses with customers in new ways.”
It is unclear when the service will be available in the UAE, if at all, but in all seriousness, do we need one more?
