Autodesk held a Ferrari and Ferrari World Design Contest, an international competition for students that aims to explore their talents to design a future car designs. Some winners have been announced and received appreciation.
Cheong Ju Kim, Ahn and Lee Sahngseok Dre from Hongik University, South Korea, received the award Autodesk Design Award for innovative use of design software.
Ferrari and Autodesk also appreciate all the winning teams for their visionary designs for Ferrari in the future, among others to: Hongik University (South Korea) as the first champion, followed by IED (Italy) and the London Royal College of Arts (English). Special Award for Innovation and Technology is also given to Jiangnan University (China).
"We are very pleased to see prospective engineers from around the world who use technology fully and beyond the limits of design with inspirational ideas and imaginative," said Brenda Discher, vice president of industry marketing at Autodesk in a press release on Thursday (28 / 7 / 2011).
Ferrari World Design Contest challenged students from 50 prestigious international design schools to create a Ferrari in the future, which is named hypercar, using the latest technology and materials while maintaining the legendary performance and elegance associated with the Ferrari brand. Seven finalists chosen, each still have to create a 3D virtual model of the car hypercar they proposed using Autodesk Alias software as well as the physical scale model 1:4. Submitted work in Autodesk Design Award competition judged from several aspects, including use of software to facilitate team collaboration, use of software design and advanced capabilities, and the best quality and visual appeal of the final design hypercar.
"I am sure that some of the proposed design will be seen on the Ferrari in the future," said the head of Ferrari, Luca di Montezemolo.
Students Autodesk Design Award winners get trophies and three team members had the opportunity to attend Autodesk University 2011, Autodesk customers gobal conference in Las Vegas, Nevada, with all costs borne by the organizers of the competition. Overall this design contest winners get a chance internship with Ferrari in Maranello, Italy and cash prizes.
